林山村位于西天尾镇，南少林寺遗址即在村境内，村中另有中共莆田塔里支部遗址。村名原为「林泉」，后改称「林山」。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网引述《红花会》所载，少林寺遭焚毁后，义士逃往东泉、林泉、上泉三处相聚，后与东宗合保，于是改称林山村，原名「林泉」。[1]

新中国成立后属林泉乡，1957年隶沃柄乡林山村，1958年设庄边公社林山大队，1961年分属林山公社的林前、林泉两个大队，1965年归西天尾公社管辖。1984年底改为乡下的林山村，1986年12月升为镇下的林山村，2002年起为荔城区西天尾镇林山村。[1]

2015年9月，中国生态文化协会授予本村「2015年度全国生态文化村」称号；2019年12月，入选「第一批国家森林乡村」名单；2020年11月，被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2021年3月，被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本村为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2021年12月，被确定为「福建省第二批高级版绿盈乡村（乡镇）」；2023年12月，被认定为「2023年度福建省一村一品专业村」，主导产业为黄花菜。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

南少林寺（林泉院）位于林山村，前身为林泉院，据称始建于南朝陈永定元年（557年）。1986年全国文物普查时发现遗址，1992年8月，福建省政府批准在遗址上重建；1998年首期工程开放，2006年11月恢复为宗教活动场所。[2][3]

中共莆田塔里支部遗址位于塔里自然村。本村是革命老区中最早的基点村之一，陈国柱亲自组织建立塔里党支部，第一任支部书记为喻文垦。[1]
