碗洋村位于西天尾镇，村名取自地势平坦如洋面，且宋代曾以生产瓷碗著称。村内有碗洋联络站旧址和明代建成的关圣庙。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：因地势平坦如同洋面，且宋代曾以生产瓷碗闻名，取名「碗洋」。[1]

宋元时属武化乡，明清隶二区仁德里，民国时归三区澄龙乡，新中国成立后改属四区澄渚乡，1952年转入梧塘区澄渚乡，1954年划归十区。1957年组建澄渚高级社，1958年设涵江公社碗洋大队，1961年转入西天尾公社。1984年改为乡下的碗洋村，1986年12月升为镇下的碗洋村，2002年起为荔城区西天尾镇碗洋村。[1]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本村为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2022年10月，被认定为「2022年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

碗洋联络站旧址位于加兰自然村。1940年，本村陈玉兰与丈夫担任莆田地下游击队的联络员，在家中开设联络站，为游击队员提供食宿；解放战争时期，联络站仍在为地下党组织服务。[1]

关圣庙建于明崇祯四年（1631年），1985年在原址按原式样重修，为单进建筑，坐东朝西。[1]
