洞湖村位于西天尾镇，原称「淡头」，1929年改称「洞湖」。村内有洞湖龙江陡门、裕昆堂和永宁社等古迹。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所载，唐代建中年间（780—783年），境内海潮交汇处筑起龙安陡门以挡潮蓄水，又堵住了枫溪的来水，使本地先得淡水，故得名「淡头」。清咸丰元年（1851年），陈池养所著《莆阳水利志》卷四记有「洞湖」，当时专指村境东南的河面沟道，即浦沟与淡沟合称。1929年，地名正式改为「洞湖」。[1]
宋元时属武化乡，明清隶二区尊贤里，民国时分属一区、洞湖乡与延寿乡的洞湖保。新中国成立初为四区洞湖乡，此后依次归七区、十区。1957年组建洞湖高级社，1958年并入涵江公社为洞湖大队，1961年改属西天尾公社。1984年底改为乡下的洞湖村，1986年12月升为镇下的村，2002年起属荔城区西天尾镇洞湖村。[1]
2022年10月，村入选「2022年淘宝村」名单；2023年11月，被认定为「2023年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
洞湖龙江陡门是莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位。其始建于唐代，宋代加以重修，近代又经修缮；陡门的作用是调节水势、灌溉田地。[1]
裕昆堂始建于明代，清嘉庆年间重修，供奉明永乐年间翰林院庶士陈实兄弟。[1]
永宁社（含永丰洞）始建于宋代，明清时重修，正殿面阔三间，构件兼有明代与清代的特征。[1]
