渭阳社区位于西天尾镇，前身为渭阳村，2018年11月改设社区居民委员会。社区一带旧称「围庄」，1932年改称「渭阳」；境内有莆田二十四景之一的「紫霄怪石」及紫宵山摩崖石刻。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地三面环山，原称「围庄」，雅称「渭庄」；后因境内日照充足，改称「渭阳」。[1]

明末清初此地称围庄，1932年改名渭阳。新中国成立初隶四区，设渭阳乡；此后于1952年编入十区的渭阳高级社，1958年为涵江公社的渭阳大队，1961年归西天尾公社。1984年改为乡下的渭阳村，1986年12月升为镇下的渭阳村，2002年起属荔城区西天尾镇。2018年11月，渭阳村改设为渭阳社区居民委员会。[1]

2006年，渭阳村获授「全国先进基层党组织」「全国民主法制示范村」等称号。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

境内的「紫霄怪石」为莆田二十四景之一，另有宋、明、清各朝的紫宵山摩崖石刻，以及「樟抱榕」树。[2]
