后黄社区位于西天尾镇，前身为后黄村，2013年11月改设社区居民委员会。社区名称据称与明代涵江黄巷后黄派的一支迁居于此有关。社区2019年列入「第五批中国传统村落」名录，2025年被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，相传明代涵江黄巷后黄派始祖黄蟾的后裔迁居此地，故名「后黄」。[1]

宋元时属武化乡，明清归二区兴教里。民国时分散在三区的澄龙乡与仁德乡登黄保。新中国成立后，先属四区后黄乡，后转入梧塘区后黄乡，再改隶梧塘区河山乡。1957年组建后黄高级社，1958年并入涵江公社为后黄大队，1961年改隶西天尾公社；1984年更名为乡下的后黄村，1986年12月升格为镇下的村。2002年成为荔城区西天尾镇所属，2013年11月改设后黄社区居民委员会。[1]

社区的荣誉包括：2015年3月，获司法部、民政部表彰为「第六批全国民主法治示范村（社区）」；2015年10月，入选「福建省第一批省级传统村落」；2017年9月，住建部公布「2017年改善农村人居环境示范村」名单，社区列为美丽乡村示范村；2019年6月，列入「第五批中国传统村落」名录；2020年12月，被确定为「福建省第一批高级版绿盈乡村」；2021年3月，被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2022年11月，文化和旅游部确定为「第四批全国乡村旅游重点村」；2022年12月，经福建省农业农村厅认定，列为「2022年度福建省一村一品专业村（乡村旅游）」；2025年3月，被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」。[1]
