地名由来[edit]
元、明时期村名写作「西朱」，载入莆田县的行政版图。明永乐年间族人修纂宗谱时改称西洙，一来为避讳，二来有仰慕洙泗之乡的意思。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代沿用明代的西洙之名。1929年设西洙乡，1942年改为延东乡，属县直辖。1950年设西洙大队，此后于1984年改称西洙村，并划归城厢区；2002年起属拱辰街道。[1]
文化[edit]
门前自然村的西洙吴氏宗祠，南宋末年创建，明代重修，至清嘉庆年间又经修葺，朝向坐北朝南。[1]
村人传统上除祭祀、祭祖、社戏和迎神外，尤其重视闹元宵和赛龙舟。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2021年3月，村庄被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2021年11月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2021年10月和2022年10月，村庄先后入选「2021年淘宝村」和「2022年淘宝村」名单。[1]
