院埔村地处福建省莆田市涵江区的西北角，北面与永泰县交界，南面与昆山村相邻，东侧挨着瑞云村，西侧是满长村。[1]
永兴岩风景区隶属本村辖区，村中有永兴岩石窟，为福建省文物保护单位；另有院埔赖氏宗祠与隆兴院两处文物。[1][3][4][5][6]
地名由来[edit]
村名原为梧桂，因村落聚集在兴隆院旁，周围草埔连片，遂改称院埔。[1]
地理环境[edit]
永兴岩以百米以上的裸露岩壁为主要景观，岩上有石狮、石象、香炉等形似的峰石，山峰间有飞瀑。百度百科记永兴岩与永泰县、福清市交界，海拔760米。[2][6]
历史沿革[edit]
中华人民共和国成立前，村地属兴化县广业里，成立后归瑞云乡。1956年设瑞云高级社，1958年划入新县人民公社，称瑞云生产大队；1961年改属新县公社，设院埔大队；1965年改属大洋公社院埔大队，1984年12月定名为莆田县大洋乡院埔村。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
院埔赖氏宗祠位于东埔自然村，始建于明万历丙午年（1606），清代重修，为莆田市文物保护单位。[1][3]
隆兴院位于楼口自然村，原为隆兴寺，唐代创建，现存建筑为清代，为涵江区第八批文物保护单位。[1][4]
永兴岩石窟始建于宋代绍兴年间，元代两次重建，石窟寺内有元至正年间的碑刻，为福建省文物保护单位，2001年公布。[5]
文化[edit]
2020年12月，院埔村入选2020年福建省森林村庄。2021年2月，院埔村入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。2021年11月，院埔村获福建省爱卫办命名为2021年福建省卫生村。[1]
