山溪村隶属涵江区庄边镇。村子旧称仙溪，相传仙人曾经过这里；后因字形简化，改写为山溪。[1]
1936年，闽中工农游击队曾在山溪一带驻扎。村中留坑自然村的游击队驻地遗址和下田自然村的山溪红军洞旧址，都是这段历史的遗存。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
宋元时此地是兴化县的辖地，明代改隶莆田县广业里。1957年曾隶黄龙乡，1962年成为山溪公社的山溪大队，之后归庄边公社。1984年底改设山溪村委会，1992年划归庄边镇，2002年起属涵江区。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
闽中工农游击队驻地遗址在留坑自然村。1936年7月下旬，游击队为避开国民党军在常太根据地的围剿，离开莆仙边的游击根据地，转到庄边赤石一带隐蔽，随后进驻山溪宫休整。遗址原为山溪宫，1995年被拆，改建为山溪小学。[3]
山溪红军洞旧址在下田自然村，靠近寨垵溪。1936年9月，王于洁与刘突军带队从赤石、赤溪、坑头里一路来到山溪，住进寨垵的岩洞。[1]
