尚书桥村隶属涵江区庄边镇。村名的由来，据传是明末有一位尚书在此隐居，为便于山区通往福州、莆田和永泰，他倡导当地人修建了一座石板桥，后人遂称之为尚书桥。[1]

村内坑头里小组的赤石宫，就是闽中抗日义勇军集训旧址。村子2021年被命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时此地是兴化县的辖地，明代改隶莆田县广业里。1950年它归第十四区的赤石乡，1955年改由白沙区管辖，1958年成为庄边人民公社的赤石生产大队。1979年称尚书桥大队，1984年设尚书桥村委会，2002年转属涵江区。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

赤石宫所在的一带，自1934年以后直到1949年，都有地下党领导人与游击队员在此活动。抗战爆发后，国共两党多次谈判，1937年9月达成合作抗日的协议，闽中抗日义勇军随即在赤石宫集中，驻训约一个月，同年十月离开，下山改编。[3][4]

宫庙始建于明初，清代重建过。现存建筑为土木结构，上下两殿，左右有厢房。[3]
