前埔村隶属涵江区庄边镇，村名来自村前的一条大溪，旧称门前埔，后简称前埔。[1]

村中有飞廉洞联络站旧址、南峰郑樵书院旧址等红色与文物遗存；2021年，村子被福建省爱卫办命名为福建省卫生村。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时此地属兴化县，明代裁县后归莆田县广业里。民国时期为莆田县第四区的前埔保。新中国成立后先后设前埔乡、前埔高级社和前埔生产大队，1984年改设前埔村民委员会；1992年9月村委会归庄边镇，2002年随镇划入涵江区。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

飞廉洞是闽中地下党组织的联络站，由一名负责人借理发为掩护开展工作。1942年，这名负责人在福州被捕牺牲，此后联络站与上级失联。旧址在村南的山林中，现为红色旅游景点。[1][3]

南峰郑樵书院旧址为清代建筑，据博雅地名网，该旧址原为一座寺院，是涵江区第八批文物保护单位。村内的萍湖祖庙也建于清代。[1]
