村名的来历与地势有关：村落位于高处，山下平原开阔，故名洋顶。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期村落归第四区白沙乡管辖。1949年划入第十四区公所，1952年改归第十三区公所。1965年8月，洋顶成为白沙公社下的洋顶大队；此后村委会于1984年成立，隶属白沙乡，1988年归白沙镇，2002年起属涵江区白沙镇。[2]
