坪盘村在海拔四百多米的高山之巅，与常太镇、西天尾镇、庄边镇接壤，村域多为山地。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村落处在高山顶上，周围群山屏立，中间地势相对平坦，因而取名「坪盘」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期此地属兴化县，明末改属莆田县广业里，清代属莆田县四区广业里，民国时为广业里四区白沙乡下的坪盘堡。新中国成立后先归莆田县第十区、第十三区、第十四区管辖，并经历庄边人民公社和白沙人民公社的时期。1984年撤销生产大队，设立坪盘村村民委员会；2002年5月起属涵江区白沙镇。[2]

文化[edit]

坪盘村先后获得以下荣誉：2015年2月，中央文明委授予「第四届全国文明村镇」称号；2017年9月，村庄入选住房和城乡建设部公布的「2017年改善农村人居环境示范村」名单；2020年8月，入选「第二批全国乡村旅游重点村」名单；2021年12月，被确定为「福建省第二批高级版绿盈乡村（乡镇）」；2024年1月，被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
