利东村隶属福建省莆田市涵江区萩芦镇，位于镇域中北部，东面与福清市接界，北面邻接新县镇。[1]

村子处在南坛的东面，取名利东，寓意有利于当地的经济发展。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年时村子属七区南坛乡；1952年至1957年间，它在十二区、十一区、江口区南坛乡与南坛乡之间变动。1958年并入涵江公社的南坛大队，此后数年转为南坛公社的利东大队，1965年才并入萩芦公社。1984年设萩芦乡利东村委会，1993年划归萩芦镇，2002年起属涵江区。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年2月，利东村列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；2021年11月，获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2022年10月，它被福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。2013年，利东村被授予「市文明村」称号。[1]
