东大村位于江口镇东北部，面积约4.2平方公里，与大东、官庄、莆江、上后、顶坡等十余个村相邻。[1]

村名取东源与大岭两地的首字。村辖东源、大岭两个自然村，11个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期属唐安乡；1958年设东大生产大队，隶属江口人民公社；1984年改属莆田县江口镇，为东大村；2002年起划归涵江区江口镇。[1]

2017年8月，村子列入「福建省第二批省级传统村落」名录；2019年12月，被认定为「全国乡村治理示范村」；2021年11月，获评「2021年福建省卫生村」；2023年2月，入选「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡村」名单；2023年10月，入选「2023年福建省金牌旅游村」名单；2024年9月，被认定为「2024年莆田市一村一品专业村」，主导产业为乡村旅游；2025年3月，认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」。[1]
