上后村下辖七个自然村，分成十五个村民小组。周边与莆江、顶坡、大东三村相连，南北两侧还有园下、东大、园顶、石狮、官庄、院里等村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村名各取上坡与后郑两个自然村的一字，这两个自然村是全村面积最大的。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初期村地属江口上后保及10区、7区的上后乡，1957年曾归园下乡的上后高级社。1958年设上后大队，1961年转属蒲坂公社，1965年回归江口公社。1984年定名为村，2002年后归涵江区管辖。[1]

2015年10月，上后村入选「福建省第一批省级传统村落」；2021年3月，获评「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2021年11月，获评「2021年福建省卫生村」；2022年12月，获评「2022年福建省森林村庄」；2023年11月，认定为「2023年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
