园顶村位于玳帽山南麓的溪畔，离324国道不到一公里，与镇政府相距约一公里。东北面与园下、顶坡两村为邻，西北面与萩芦溪沿岸的石狮、院里两村接壤。[1]

地名由来[edit]

旧时此处有一片园地，因在田园上方而得名。村域面积约2.5平方公里。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

相传宋朝时有人从山西迁来定居。1950年代归莆田县第七区管辖，1965年设园顶大队；1984年改设村，1985年归莆田县江口镇，2002年后归涵江区。[1]

2019年6月，园顶村被确认为「第六批福建省历史文化名镇名村」；2021年11月，获评「2021年福建省卫生村」；2025年5月，入选「福建省美丽乡村示范村」创建名单。[1]
