院里村位于江口镇东北部，萩芦溪横穿村子，分成东西两岸，以三座桥梁连通。东面与石狮村为邻，南面顺溪流去约5公里即到镇区。[1]
地名由来[edit]
宋代有一位书生在此开办书院、授徒讲学，村名因此而来。全村辖三个自然村，共七个村民小组。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋朝时由漳州漳浦迁来。新中国成立前后，村地属江口区院里保，之后历经七区、十区与梧塘区的院里乡、园下乡等建制；1958年设院里大队，1965年归江口公社。1984年定名为村，2002年后归涵江区。[1]
2021年11月，村子获评「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
「中共莆田县委反叛斗争旧址」位于园里一带。1934年4月，闽中地下党的上级机关福州中心市委遭国民党破坏，多名负责人被捕后投敌，党员遭到搜捕，莆仙党组织受到重创。中共莆田县委随后在当地开展反叛斗争。[2]
