西刘村靠近兴化湾，东南与莆田市赤港开发区只隔一堵墙。村子北侧与南侧都挨着324国道与福泉高速公路的交会处，离交会处不足500米。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域约1.5平方公里，辖4个村民小组。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村名中的「西」指西汉，「刘」指彭城刘氏。相传西汉高帝刘邦的后人迁居此地，村因此定名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期村地分属涵江区三区与二区，新中国成立后数度改隶，先后在东吴大队与石庭公社之间变动，1965年回归江口公社。1984年设村民委员会，2002年后归涵江区管辖。[2]

2022年12月，村子获评「2022年福建省卫生村」。[1]
