新墩村地处古称「九里洋」的平原，北靠翠山，南面朝海，离福厦324国道及镇区约1公里。[1]

村子东面以江口港的后港码头为界，与福清市新厝镇峰头村分开；南面海岸线长2.8公里。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立后至1958年，村地属新墩乡；此后至1984年，隶属江口人民公社新墩大队；1984年改设为江口镇新墩村委会。[2]

2021年11月，村子获评「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

「江口缴枪战斗旧址」位于新墩自然村的新墩李氏宗祠。1930年3月，中共莆田县委号召以武装斗争响应省委部署，陈天章、张如琦等人带领游击队，在江口周边动员群众三百余人，袭击村中一处国民党盐兵驻守点，一次缴获二十四杆枪；缴得的物资分给群众，并张贴布告。[1][3]
