历史沿革[edit]
宋元时期此地归唐安乡延寿里，明清两代隶莆田县第二区。民国时期先后归囊山乡与江口镇沁园保，囊山乡公所曾设于此。中华人民共和国成立初期此处为沁园乡，此后归涵江人民公社的沁园生产大队；之后又改隶塘头公社，设沁东大队，1965年复归涵江公社，1984年6月改设沁东村委会，1993年起属国欢镇。[1][2]
沁东村先后获得两项荣誉：2021年3月确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」，2024年1月被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[2]
