新兴村位于涵江区三江口镇东部，东临兴化湾，南靠三江口港的入口北端，隔海与荔城区黄石镇相望。村名取「新兴」二字，期望借地方的需要推动经济发展。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期，这里属唐安乡望江里；明清时期改属二期望江里。民国时期先后归第二区三江乡联保改称的三鲸乡，以及望江乡管辖。[1]

1997年6月，村落自原有村落中拆分出来，设立新兴村，此后一直属三江口镇。[1]
