高美村位于涵江区三江口镇中部，是镇政府所在的村庄。村庄东侧挨着前明村，西面隔海与白塘镇后宫村遥望。村名由高里与美尾两个自然村合并而成，各取其首字。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时，此地为唐安乡望江里的一部分；明清两代并入二区望江里。解放前称高美保，解放后设高美乡。[2]

1955年建立高美高级社；1958年成立涵江公社高美大队，1961年隶属涵江区哆头公社，1965年复归涵江公社管辖。1984年10月设高美村委会，隶属涵江乡；1993年起属三江口镇。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村子南与美尾村相接，北与洋中村相邻。三江街纵贯村庄南北，直通三江口港；高新路与哆头路相接，通往海边。福厦高速公路和福厦铁路横穿村子东西，村道路四通八达且都已硬化。[1][2]

人口民族[edit]

博雅地名网记，全村950户、4100人，党员90人，耕地220亩，另设17个村民小组，共有6个自然村，未注明年份。[1]

经济[edit]

农业之外，前亭自然村主要从事滩涂养殖，其余五个自然村则以经商为主。自三江口建镇以来，村中的雕刻、服装、纺织与海产品加工业发展起来，第三产业也在发展。境内有外商投资企业多家。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年3月，村庄被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。2021年11月，村庄获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
