洋中村位于涵江区三江口镇东南部，属涵江城乡结合部，与涵东街道相邻，北靠324国道。村名来自村中地势平坦如洋的一片地方，村民聚居在这块中心地带，形成村落。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1962年，经涵江公社同意，洋中从原有村落中独立出来，设为一个大队。1984年，大队改称洋中村委会。1993年起，该村属三江口镇。[1]

洋三路贯穿全村，村子交通便利。[1]

村中的渔网加工业随农村改革而发展，产品销往各地渔区。据博雅地名网，渔网加工专业户有30多户，专业工人有600多人，未注明年份。村里另划出一片工业小区用地，设有彩印、涂料、粘胶等企业。[1]

2021年3月，村庄被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。2021年11月，村庄获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
