社区名由两个主要自然村各取一字组成，两村分别为苍口与下林。[1]
2022年10月，社区获评「2022年全国示范性老年友好型社区」；2023年，入选省级「完整社区建设」样板；2024年1月，被命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」；同年12月，上榜「2024年福建省儿童友好社区」名单。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
宋元时期这里属延寿里，明清时隶属莆田县第二区。新中国成立前，此地归涵江乡所辖，此后经历数次调整，并曾称苍林大队。1984年设为苍林村委会；1993年以后归涵西街道管辖，2003年才改为社区居委会。[1][3]
