霞徐社区在涵东街道境内。社区旧称下徐：据传顶铺徐巷里的徐家部分人迁居到这里，顶铺一带称上徐，此处便称下徐，后来雅化为霞徐。[1]
2021年2月，社区上榜「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；2024年1月，被命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
莆田时事研究会旧址于1937年12月在社区内成立时事研究会，1993年6月起列为莆田县级文物，2009年11月起又为省级文物。[2]
涵江黄氏民居由前后两座组成：前座明代建成，后座为清初建造。这里是辛亥革命时期黄纪星的旧居，他当年牵头组建了同盟会莆田分部。[3]
霞徐顺济庙供奉妈祖，明代始建，清代重建，是第九批莆田市级文物保护单位。莆田天妃宫民间也叫“旧宫”，南宋时已有此庙，1482年（明成化十八年）镇守太监陈道出资重修。[4][5]
