西厝村位于东海镇中部，北靠笏枫公路，是革命老区村。[1][2]

村名来自早期村民建房多朝西而建的习惯。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代末年，村民由北亭迁来，形成聚落。1958年设灵川公社西厝大队，后于1984年改称西厝村，隶属灵川公社。[1][2]

1999年改属莆田县东海镇，2002年起为城厢区东海镇的一部分。[1][2]

1912年5月，蔡先镳出生于本村一个农民家庭。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村内发展海蛎养殖和狗爪芋种植。[1]

文化[edit]

村内东洋自然村有莆田党团联席会议会址，笏枫公路旁有蔡先镳烈士墓。[2]

2020年11月，西厝村被认定为2020年度莆田市中级版「绿盈乡村」。2021年10月，西厝村列入2021年淘宝村名单；2022年10月，又入选2022年淘宝村名单。2024年1月，西厝村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[2]
