坪洋村位于东海镇的山区，海拔660米，是革命老区基点村，全村分布在7个自然村中。[1]

村名来源：唐代先民在此开发定居，发现高山顶有一片平坦之地，于是称为坪洋。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代属兴化府金沙埔阳山里，民国时期属坪洋保。1950年设坪洋乡，1956年加入华亭的坪洋高级社。1958年归灵川人民公社，设坪洋大队；1984年改为灵川乡坪洋村委会，1988年属灵川镇。[2]

1999年划入东海镇，2002年改属城厢区东海镇。[2]

文化[edit]

村东南约2.5公里处有石梯寺，始建于唐僖宗乾符四年（877年），后曾荒废，清末重建。[3][4]

2020年11月，坪洋村被认定为2020年度莆田市中级版「绿盈乡村」。2021年11月，坪洋村获评「2021年福建省卫生村」。2022年12月，坪洋村被评为「2022年福建省森林村庄」。[1]
