走马亭村位于华亭镇西部，莆永高速公路、濑榜公路与华油公路在境内交错穿过。[1]

村名的来历与旧时的一段传说有关。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

相传当地有一位守墓的人，在此盖了三座亭子。一位知府赴漳州上任，路过此地，见有人在亭边骑马疾走，「走马亭」之名由此而来。[1]

元朝时期此地隶属兴化郡小罗境；明朝中期（1475年）改名为走马亭。[1]

1958年归莆田县华亭公社，设西亭大队；1961年改称走马亭大队，仍属莆田县华亭公社；1984年改属华亭乡走马亭村委会；1985年改隶华亭镇；2002年起划入城厢区华亭镇。[1]

经济[edit]

农业以橄榄、龙眼鲜果为主要产业。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年3月，村庄被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2021年11月，获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]

2023年9月，村庄被认定为「2023年莆田市一村一品专业村」，主导产业为橄榄；2024年11月，被认定为「2024年度福建省一村一品专业村」（橄榄）。[1]
