南湖村位于华亭镇境内，与园头村、万坂村、圳头村、后枫村、走马亭村等村庄相接。[1]

村名取自南墘与湖里两个自然村的首字。村中的山边旧石器时代遗址与莆田龙山宫是重要的文化遗存。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：村内有南墘、湖里两个自然村，各取首字而成南湖。清代以前此地属莆田县兴化府。[1]

1958年，此地编入莆田县华亭人民公社，设南湖生产大队，1961年仍属该大队；1980年以南湖生产大队的名义隶属莆田县华亭人民公社。[1]

1984年由队改村，隶属华亭乡，设南湖村委会；1986年改隶莆田县华亭镇；2002年起划入莆田市城厢区华亭镇南湖村委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

山边旧石器时代遗址位于山边自然村东南，年代为旧石器时代晚期，是木兰溪流域考古调查项目新发现的遗址。[1]

莆田龙山宫位于湖里自然村，始建于明初，清代重建，近代又经重修，坐南朝北，为一进廊院式建筑。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年3月，村庄被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2021年11月，获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2022年10月，列入「2022年淘宝村」名单。[1]
