前柳村位于华亭镇西北部，背靠紫微山，面临濑榜路，东面接着圳头村，西面与埔柳村为邻。[1]

村名的来历是北宋年间王、柳两姓分居山前山后。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：北宋时期，王姓与柳姓先后迁入此地定居，王姓住在山后，柳姓住在山前，故名前柳。[1]

1949年隶属华亭区埔柳乡；1950年称前柳乡，1953年改称莆田县前柳乡，1954年又改为濑柳乡。1958年归前柳高级社。[1]

1961年编入莆田县华亭人民公社，称前柳生产大队；1968年设革命领导小组。1985年3月，此村转为华亭镇前柳村委会；2002年起隶属莆田市城厢区华亭镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年11月，村庄被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2021年11月，获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
