历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历：最早有俞姓人家来此定居，木兰溪中游有一处深潭，称作俞潭。七十年代为书写方便，改用谐音字「油」，遂成油潭。[1]
1949年至1957年隶属油亭乡；1957年至1958年归华亭区重新乡；1959年至1962年重回油亭乡；1962年以后改属华亭公社，设油潭大队，1979年仍是华亭公社油潭大队。[1]
1984年改属莆田县华亭乡，设油潭村委会；1986年改称莆田市城厢区华亭镇油潭村委会。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村东与走马亭村接壤，西邻仙游县盖尾镇的仙潭村，南面是木兰溪，北面群山环抱。村内有仙正寺等名胜。[1]
经济[edit]
村民收入以养殖业和种植业为主，村内交通较为便利，设有一所小学。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2020年11月，油潭村被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2023年9月，被认定为「2023年莆田市一村一品专业村」，主导产业为龙眼。[1]
2024年1月，村庄获「2023年福建省卫生村」称号；2024年2月，被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象。[1]
