洋边村位于东圳水库南部，村子原先坐落在一片平地的边缘，村名因此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代以前此地属莆田县常太乡；新中国成立后隶属莆田县第八区公所。1952年至1955年归第十四、十五区管辖，1956年设常太洋边高级社，1958年属城厢人民公社洋边生产大队，1965年改属常太公社洋边大队。1984年12月改设洋边村委会，1992年10月属莆田县常太镇，2002年起属莆田市城厢区常太镇。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
闽中游击队洋边革命展览馆设在村委会办公楼一层。展馆所在的玉狮岩山高路险，林木茂密，地形隐蔽；1928年，莆田党组织曾在山上的玉皇殿开展地下革命活动。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2020年12月，洋边村入选「2019年度福建省一村一品示范村」名单（枇杷）；2021年2月，列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]
2023年11月，村子被认定为「2023年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
