南川村位于东圳水库西北部，村名由原来的南垾、漈川两个自然村合并而来。[1]

村内以枇杷种植为主，水稻也是主要作物之一。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明代以前，此地属莆田县枫叶堂乡的南垾里与漈川里。1952年至1955年改隶第十四、十五区常太区；1965年设南川大队，1980年改为南川生产大队，隶属常太乡人民公社。1984年12月改设南川村委会，属常太乡；此后归莆田县常太镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，村子获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2021年12月，被命名为「2021年度福建省森林村庄」。[1]

2020年11月，南川村被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2024年6月，村子列入「第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1]
