溪南村位于常太镇西部，村子在莒溪南面，村名由此而来。[1]

莆田九龙谷国家森林公园位于本村，百度百科与博雅地名网都载其在莒溪溪南村一带。景区最高海拔717米，属亚热带海洋性季风气候。[2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1947年至1949年8月，此地属莆田县枫叶溏区的莒溪乡。1957年改属溪莒乡，1958年起直至1980年间，它是莆田县常太人民公社的一部分，下设溪南生产大队。1961年改属莒溪公社，1965年划归常太公社溪南大队。1984年12月设为村，隶属常太乡，称溪南村委会；1992年10月起属莆田县常太镇。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

溪南进贤宫位于洋下自然村，为莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位。宫始建于明代，清代重修；布局为廊院式的一进，依次有宫埕、前廊、门厅、天井与正殿，朝向坐西北朝东南。[1]

2006年12月，福建九龙谷经国家林业局批准为国家级森林公园，总面积1148公顷。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，村子获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2021年12月，被确定为「福建省第二批高级版绿盈乡村（乡镇）」；2022年10月，入选「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
