顶坑村位于常太镇西北部，村内以枇杷为主要经济作物。[1]

村子原名「陈家」，相传因陈姓居住于此得名；后按莆仙方言谐音，写作「顶坑」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村中老人口述，明末崇祯年间，因战乱，村民从漳浦县迁来此地定居。解放后，此地先称党坑乡（隶第八区），随后划入渡里乡，再改隶第十五区与第十四区。1958年设常太公社顶坑大队，1961年划归渡山公社，1965年仍归常太公社。1984年12月设顶坑村委会，隶属常太乡，1992年10月属莆田县常太镇。[1]
