历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立后，此地先归第八区渡里乡，1952年划入第十五区，1954年改归第十四区，1955年隶属常太乡，1957年并入党渡乡，称马院村。1958年组建常太公社马院大队，1961年划入渡山公社，1965年再度回归常太公社。1984年12月设马院村委会，隶属常太乡；1992年10月起归莆田县常太镇，2002年以后属城厢区。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
马院闽中工农游击队驻地旧址在漈川自然村。1933年10月，郑金照任中共常太区委书记后，深入漈川等地宣传革命，发展了陈金藩、陈丛中等积极分子。[2]
闽中特委于1935年10月下旬在漈川开会商讨军事，各地分散的游击队被调到此处整编，改为闽中工农游击队第二支队，由郑金照出任支队长。[2]
闽中特委的旧址同样在漈川。该特委于1935年5月设立，以两个中心县委为基础，王于洁担任书记。[1]
韩永藩烈士故居位于江北里小组，为两层土木结构，坐北朝南，占地120平方米左右，部分墙体因年久受损。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2017年11月，第五届全国文明村镇的称号由中央文明委决定授予马院村。[1]
2020年11月，村子被认定为「2020年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」；2021年12月，被确定为「福建省第二批高级版绿盈乡村（乡镇）」。[1]
