太平社区是福建省莆田市城厢区龙桥街道下辖的社区，地处莆田市区中心，是城区的政治与商贸要地之一。社区名称来源于古时辖区内一座名为「太平社」的社宫。[1]

社区内的西岩广福寺是明代建成的寺院，今为莆田市文物保护单位。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

社区的前身几经更名：先后隶属莆田县城厢镇、荔城街道，其间有过「跃进街道」的名称。2002年起，此地归龙桥街道管辖，设太平社区居民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

西岩广福寺位于太平社区，建于明代万历年间，前身是礼部尚书陈经邦的一处别墅。别墅后由其孙改为僧寺，寺名「西岩广福寺」。寺院坐东朝西，现存建筑在清乾隆年间及光绪年间多次修葺。[2]

薛公池位于府前巷，原为莆田县学的泮池，北宋雍熙三年（986年）知县薛奎主持开辟，池旁建有咏归亭。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2005年，社区获省委、省政府授予「省社区建设示范社区」称号；2024年12月，上榜「2024年福建省儿童友好社区」名单。[1]
