西炉社区原为马巷镇的西炉村委会，2006年改为社区，现属民安街道[1]。地名源于临海的一处大水塘：此塘原名西湖，后渐淤积改称西河，再衍为今名[1]。2022年12月，「2022年福建省卫生社区」的称号授予西炉社区，授予方为福建省爱国卫生运动委员会[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
清代此地属民安里十一都小崎保，1943年归侯牧乡李厝保。1950年设海滨乡，1959年成为马巷公社海滨大队[1]。1961年另设西炉大队，隶巷西公社，1964年回归马巷公社；1984年改为后滨乡下的村委会，1987年属马巷镇[1]。
