垵边社区原为马巷镇的垵边村委会，2006年改为社区，现属民安街道[1]。地名取自村落所在的马鞍形地势[1]。2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名垵边社区为「2021年福建省卫生社区」[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地归同禾里五都山头保，1939年改属官山乡，1943年转入侯牧乡洪垵保。1950年划归第四区内官乡，1959年隶马巷公社内官大队[1]。1961年自内官大队析出垵边大队，隶巷西公社；1964年回归马巷公社，1984年改为后滨乡下的村委会[1]。
