窗东社区因宋代洪氏先人开基时住处的一扇窗而得名，洪氏后人在此繁衍成村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

宋代洪氏三兄弟迁来此地开基，老三住在书房东侧的窗户旁，后人繁衍成村，遂称窗东。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代隶翔风里十二都浦尾保，1943年归侯牧乡窗东保，1950年设窗东乡，1956年合并到海峰乡，1959年成立马巷公社窗东大队，1964年改隶东坑公社，1969年又回到马巷公社。1984年改为后滨乡窗东村委会，1987年划入马巷镇。1997年划入同安区，2003年改隶翔安区，2006年2月改制为社区。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
