山头社区位于大嶝岛中部，是大嶝街道下辖的社区。社区只辖一个自然村，村名来自村子建在小山顶上[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地属同安县翔风里大嶝保，民国时期称嶝西乡田墘保[1]。1950年归嶝东乡，属大嶝区[1]。1958年设东星大队，1981年析出为山头大队，都属大嶝公社[1]。

1984年改称山头村委会，改属大嶝乡。2003年起隶属翔安区大嶝镇，2005年2月，村委会转为社区居委会[1]。

地名由来[edit]

村子位于一座小山的顶部，故名山头。村落建成后，又因在大嶝岛的最高处而被认为得名于此[1]。

明万历年间任广东恩平知县的蔡标，其故里在山头村[1]。
