垵炉村是五显镇下辖的行政村，位于同安区东北部，镇政府驻地即在村中。村名原作「鞍炉」：村子建在台地凹陷处，形如马鞍，古时曾在此建炉炼铁，闽南方言中逐渐演变为今名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代村地属长兴里一至三都荷炉保。民国时（1943年）归长兴乡安美保管辖，1950年成为第四区的五显乡一部分。[1]
1959至1961年间，它先隶属布塘公社垵炉大队，继而划入汀溪区果园公社。1966至1980年间曾称东风大队，1980年恢复原名。1984年改设五显乡垵炉村委会，1991年五显乡改镇，1997年划归同安区。[1]
村北有铁屎墩遗址，村名的由来与古代在此建炉炼铁有关。[1]
2007年，垵炉村被市里列为旧村改造、新村建设的重点村，次年又成为福建省新农村建设「百村示范」的联系点。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2011年12月，垵炉村上榜「第三届全国文明村镇」名单。2012年10月，司法部与民政部把垵炉村确定为「第五批全国民主法治示范村（社区）」。2023年2月，垵炉村列入「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1]
