村南原有一片荒埔，从南面望去，村落位于荒埔之后，故名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1961年分出埔后大队，归洪塘公社管辖；1984年起为埔后村委会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
百度百科载，截至2015年，村中有常住人口1053人与外来人口1101人，合计总人口2154人。[2]
村中经济以石材加工、农业种植及劳务输出为主，村内设有埔后小学。[2]
