洪塘镇坐落在同安区东南部，东与东南面和翔安区的新圩、马巷两镇相接，归同安区管辖。[1][3]

洪塘镇在1991年由乡改设为镇，此前曾数度随同安的区、公社调整而隶属不同的上级单位。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代这一带属同禾里。清代为同禾里四都的洪塘保。[1][4]

进入民国后，这里于1943年成为同禾乡下的洪塘保。1950年划入第四区，分出洪塘等8乡，1955年改属布塘区。[4]

此后，1956年6月划归汀溪区，下设3乡；1958年3月这些乡并为一个洪塘乡。1959年改隶布塘公社，1960年归汀溪公社管辖，1961年改称汀溪区洪塘公社。[4]

1984年洪塘公社改为乡，1991年改设为洪塘镇。[1][4]

名胜古迹[edit]

磁灶尾窑址在石浔社区的磁灶尾社，属区级文保单位，时代在唐至五代之间。[5]

厦门方特梦幻王国在中洲社区的企业片区内，占地约40万平方米，2013年4月28日开业。[6][7]

荣誉[edit]

2014年6月，环境保护部授予洪塘镇「2012—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」称号。[4]

2024年1月，洪塘镇被命名为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」。[4]
