莲花镇位于福建省厦门市同安区西北部，东邻汀溪镇，北接安溪县，西连漳州市长泰县，镇人民政府驻美埔村，距区政府约9千米。[1][2]

镇域多山，境内的莲花山得名于山峦状似莲花的形态，镇内有莲花国家森林公园、太华岩摩崖石刻和同字厝等名胜。[1][4][5]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属永丰乡的归德里与感化里。据百度百科，民国三十二年（1943年）设莲山乡，1959年改为莲花公社，1984年设莲花乡，1991年由乡改为镇。[2]

1961年前后，此地一度归莲花区管辖，区下分设莲花、云埔、茶场三个公社。[1]

地名与地理[edit]

镇名取自境内的莲花山，山峦起伏，形似莲花。宋时该山称鸡冠山或金冠山，理学家朱熹任同安主簿时曾三次到访，并在山间留下题刻。[1]

镇域面积的记载不一：百度百科作213.18平方千米，博雅地名网作196.4平方公里，两者均未注年份。博雅地名网还载全镇有山地约20.6万亩、耕地约2.8万亩。[1][2]

人口[edit]

据百度百科，2019年末的户籍人口为46330人。博雅地名网记为约3.09万人，未注年份，与之不一致。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

莲花国家森林公园在镇的东北部，前身是福建省厦门小坪森林公园。2003年底，国家林业局同意扩大其范围，改列为国家级森林公园；园区分为莲花山、金光湖、小坪、野山谷、文山与铜钵岩几处景区。[4]

近代同安的地方武装首领叶定国在此建有旧居，名为同字厝。建筑于1934年落成，平面布局取“同”字的形状，后来曾充作莲花乡政府的办公场所，2001年被定为同安区级文物保护单位。[3]

太华岩摩崖石刻位于后埔村西北的莲花山上，为宋代遗存，属同安区级文物保护单位，保护范围包括「太华岩」「灵源」等石刻及周围的露表岩体。[5]

  • 2020年7月，由全国爱卫会命名为「2017-2019周期国家卫生乡镇（县城）」。[1]
  • 2012年12月，获环境保护部门授予「2010—2011年度国家级生态乡镇」称号。[1]
