后宅社区是福建省厦门市同安区新美街道下辖的社区，位于同集路以西、国道324复线沿线，辖区面积4.12平方公里。[1][2]

社区名称的来历是：居民的住宅位于赤岭之后，故称后宅。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地归从顺里管辖，分属四都、五都的后宅保。进入民国后，1943年改隶塘柑乡，保名未变。[1]

新中国成立后，1950年划为第七区的后宅乡，1956年并入策槽区的新民乡。1959年此地设为策槽公社新星大队，1961年改隶策槽区新民公社。[1]

1984年设祥桥乡后宅村委会，后于1991年改镇、1992年改称新民镇。2006年改为社区。[1]

地理环境[edit]

社区的自然村有六个，依次为「后宅大社」「橄榄树」「前埔」「草塘」「溪头洋」「赤坪」，另有8个村民小组。[2]

社区部分土地转为工业用地，纳入同安工业集中区及其南拓片区的范围，此后这一片区陆续有大中型企业入驻。[2]
