下山头社区属福建省厦门市同安区西柯街道，2006年12月由村委会改制设立，位于顶山头自然村南侧的低洼地带，因此得名。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

清代，下山头属从顺里三都下崎保，民国时期归瑶岗乡朱湖保。[1][2]

新中国成立后隶属第七区惠东乡，之后并入惠阳乡、改属策槽区。1959年起为策槽公社惠东大队的一部分，1961年惠东大队分出下山头大队。[1][2]

1984年改为西柯乡下山头村委会；2006年12月，村委会改制为社区。[1][2]

社区概况[edit]

社区辖区面积约1平方千米，下设8个居民小组。辖区内有一所学校，以个体商业为主，设有66个商业网点。[1][3]
