历史沿革[edit]
1943年起，丙洲的丙东、丙西两保归瑶岗乡管辖；此前的清代，它属同安县从顺里下崎保。1950年设丙洲乡，归第七区。[1][5]
1959年，丙洲改为策槽公社的一个大队；1984年又成为西柯乡下的村委会，2006年改制为社区。[1][5]
地名的来历：据《同安县志》，丙洲屿在县城南面二十里，因位于县治的丙方而得名。博雅地名网还记载，丙洲原是七个岛礁组成的地方，地名由此而来。[1]
地理环境[edit]
社区濒临同安湾，居民以捕捞、养殖为主。牡蛎、对虾、蛏、花蛤和各种鱼类是当地的主要水产。[2]
人文[edit]
明末，颍川南陈衍派的一支迁入丙洲岛，此后陈、谢、宋、李四姓陆续迁来，其中三姓因生计所迫陆续迁出岛外，只剩陈姓留在岛上。[2]
厦门开埠以后，丙洲人在厦门码头谋生，人数最多时占据了多个码头，码头工人中的丙洲陈一度声名远播。20世纪40年代中期是这一群体的鼎盛时期。[2]
丙洲南音盛行，少儿南音队曾于1995年到北京演出。社区内的丙洲儿童文化园于同年获评「国家级蒲公英农村儿童文化园试点」，授予单位为文化部。[2]
教育[edit]
社区内有小学、幼儿园和卫生所，另有厦门市国祺中学，该校1992年8月开始办学。[2]
著名人物[edit]
陈化成生于丙洲，清代抗英将领，历任福建水师提督和江南提督，1842年在上海吴淞炮台阵亡，被后世称为民族英雄。[2][4]
