地名由来[edit]
此处最初是蔡姓人家聚居之地，故有以姓氏为名的来历，另有大岭脚之称。宋末元初之际，卓长静（字时贤）来此立基，村中至今以卓姓居多。[1]
产业与荣誉[edit]
蔡宅村为纯农业村，主要种植「蔡宅紫长茄」。2023年5月，本村被列为厦门市「一村一品」专业村（蔡宅紫长茄）；同年12月，又获评福建省「一村一品」专业村，产品同样为紫长茄。[1]
2011年，村党支部获镇级先进基层党组织称号。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代，本地是归德里九都、十都的蔡宅保。民国年间并入塘柑乡新塔保；1950年，此处为第七区的蔡宅乡；1959年，策槽公社下设蔡宅大队；1961年并入新民公社。[1]
1984年改属祥桥乡，设蔡宅村委会；1991年祥桥乡改镇，1992年改称新民镇。[1]
