乌涂社区是同安区新民街道下辖的社区，地处324国道南边，湖里工业园区北边，辖区面积2529.1亩。[1]
地名由来[edit]
相传元末清初，徐姓一族自角尾（今龙海市角美镇）迁来此地。这里土质深黑，故取名乌土，后作乌涂。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
此地早年归从顺里的乌泥保管辖。1943年，改隶塘柑乡下的乌涂保；1950年被编入第七区，称新民乡；1955年10月转入洪坂区，1956年又划归策槽区。1959年，此地设策槽公社新光大队；同年9月，改为隶属策槽区的新民公社，1964年再次划入新民公社。[1]
1984年归祥桥乡，设乌涂村委会；1991年祥桥乡改镇，1992年改称新民镇。2006年，村委会改制为乌涂社区。[1][2]
